Back Story:

"I was sitting on the train brainstorming and managed to get quite a list of vulture based metaphors that could also be used to describe people. This started the idea of writing a bird centric metaphor based song, an anthem aimed to all of us who from time to time unfortunately come into contact with a psychopathic, destructive and manipulative person. Being a big fan of the Eagles, I really enjoyed the idea of having an Eagles inspired album cover after hearing how Glenn Frey happened to see an eagle in the Mohave Desert, inspiring the name for the band. My album cover is how I imagined that might have looked like for Glenn Frey, hence the desert and the predatory bird staring right back at you. I originally wanted to have a separate title and concept for the album that links everything together but the Eagles inspired theme did just that. The cover and title convey such concepts such as watching, flying, mortality, opportunity, danger, defining moments, etc that carry right throughout all the songs in the album."

Lyrics:

I thought we'd always be cool
But it's not really proving so
I've now spotted the chameleon
And now I'm in the know

I thought you were on my side
But that's certainly not the case
You hurt me and there was blood and now
You've really got a taste

Waiting and watching
And watching and waiting
Can feel those eyes piercing
Is really understating

Watching like a hawk prying into my life
Watching like a hawk waiting for me to die
Watching like a hawk I really don't like your style
Watching like a hawk can't bear to ask you why

I thought we had each other's backs
Always kept you safe under my wing
But now you've stepped out of the nest
You don't care for anything

It's really not too late to change
You could choose another flight
You should by now know there's more to life
Than flying high as a kite

Waiting and watching
And watching and waiting
Can feel those eyes piercing
Is really understating

Watching like a hawk prying into my life
Watching like a hawk waiting for me to die
Watching like a hawk I really don't like your style
Watching like a hawk can't bear to ask you why

I really don't like your style
Waiting for me to die
I really don't like your style
waiting for me to die
