Amanda Was Her Name Gravier I Decided To Tell You
Back Story:
"This was written after the breakup of my first true love as a teenager, and being a teenager you can hear a lot of mixed emotion. Much of the anger for instance I don't even really understand where it came from. I suppose hormone fuelled emotions can make things feel so different from reality. Most of the love songs I've written have been about that same girl in a more accurate light, which is with more care and respect and admiration. The double use of "armed" in the chorus was inspired by The Beatles' double use of "please" in their song 'Please, Please Me'"
- Joel Dobbins
Lyrics:
I wish I had never abandoned my friends
Even today our friendship needs mend
They stood by me so it could never end
Such a blessing having friends who don't pretend
They've stood the test of time
Their friendship brought him back
Back into line
Never listened to friends I've had all my life
So I could avoid getting into this strife
She's finally stopped trying to make contact
All along she'd been putting on an act
Amanda was her name
Vicious tiger scheming while acting tame
A snake coiled hissing
Ready to strike
An armed soldier armed and ready to fight
She didn't stand the test of time
Her friendship was pulling him
Way out of line
She's acting so fake
With new boyfriend Blake
I can see him being tricked
Watching, watching
Oh watching only makes me sick
Amanda was her name
Vicious tiger scheming while acting tame
A snake coiled hissing
Ready to strike
An armed soldier armed and ready to fight
She didn't stand the test of time
Her friendship was pulling him
Way out of line
I was taken back by her same game
Funny how I never noticed it was so lame
But at that time I didn't know
That she would soon become my foe
